| Summary: | Este trabalho tem por objetivo central analisar as estratégias de tradução empregadas em uma edição brasileira de Percy Jackson & the Titan’s Curse (Percy Jackson e a maldição do titã, no título em português), traduzido por Raquel Zampil e lançado no Brasil em 2009. Com base em reflexões de Britto (2012), Azenha Jr. (2015) e Costa e Pisetta (2022) e entendendo a obra como um exemplo de literatura de massa, gênero que costuma receber pouca atenção no âmbito dos Estudos da Tradução, e como um texto lúdico que demanda a recriação de jogos de palavras e de antropônimos significativos de modo a impactar o novo público, propõe-se uma reflexão sobre as especificidades desse tipo de tradução. |
| Abstract: | This work’s main objective is to analyze the translation strategies employed in a Brazilian edition of Percy Jackson & the Titan's Curse, translated by Raquel Zampil and released in Brazil in 2009. Based on reflections by Britto (2012), Azenha Jr. (2015), and Costa and Pisetta (2022), and understanding the work as an example of mass literature — a genre that typically receives little attention in Translation Studies — and as a playful text that requires the recreation of wordplay and meaningful anthroponyms to resonate with the new audience, this paper proposes a reflection on the specificities of this type of translation. |
