Investigação acerca da participação social do(a) trabalhador(a) na promoção de saúde e segurança no ambiente laboral

Abstract

This study refers to a work equivalent to a master's thesis, whose theme was the social participation of workers in promoting health and safety in the workplace. The social participation of workers is a crucial factor for improving health and safety in the workplace. Although the field of occupational health has evolved since its implementation as a field of practice and study with constitutional recognition in 1988, there are gaps regarding social participation in the development of actions in the world of work, demanding research in the area. The objective was to understand how the scientific literature addresses the social participation of workers in promoting health and safety within the context of labor relations. The methodology adopted was based on two types of literature review. The results consisted of an article published in the journal Contribuiciones a Las Ciencias Sociales, aiming to examine how national legislation and guidelines address the social participation of workers in promoting health and safety at work. The second study, submitted to the journal Saúde e Desenvolvimento Humano (Health and Human Development), Qualis B2, from La Salle University, aimed to identify, in the scientific literature, facilitators and barriers to the social participation of workers in consolidating participatory practices in the field of occupational health. We concluded that, although mandated by law and recognized in the literature as essential for safer and fairer work environments, the social participation of workers still faces structural barriers that require concrete actions to become effective, inclusive, and transformative.
