Mobilidade como instrumento de inclusão social e condição para reinserção dos(as) desempregados(as) no mercado de trabalho em Uberlândia/MG

Abstract

Unemployment can happen to anyone at any time. The consequences range from financial to psychological, affecting the entire personal and family structure. And in order to reintegrate into the job market, it is necessary to move to where the job is. But to do this, it is necessary to have resources in terms of urban mobility, a factor that becomes unique when there is no guaranteed service available, especially for those who need it most. Public transport can offer a solution to this problem, becoming an instrument of social inclusion in the reinsertion of the unemployed into the job market, as long as there is an additional measure, free use during the search for a job opportunity, with the development of a comprehensive system that includes improvements in accessibility and expansion of timetables and itineraries that guarantee Uberland citizens a cost-free commute during this time of fragility. Often the money from unemployment insurance (when there is any) can't even meet basic needs, such as freeing the individual from food insecurity, and so there is no way to pay for the transport voucher. The right to come and go is enshrined in the Federal Constitution (article 5, XV) and the Uberlândia Master Plan includes the right to move around and enjoy the city regardless of the ability to pay for it (article 21, IX). Therefore, the intervention of public authorities is essential to safeguard these rights and this work addresses the issue in a way that reminds us of the social responsibility of the Executive Branch of the municipality of Uberlândia/MG towards its inhabitants.
