Me chame pelo seu nome, de André Aciman: a tradução intratextual narrativizada no romance e sua tradução para o português

Abstract

As from a fictional turn in Translation Studies (VIEIRA, 1995), research on different modes of transfiction (KAINDL & SPITZL, 2014) has received new approaches. In this paper, we intend to discuss the use of intratextual translation (D'HULST, 2008; 2010) in the novel Call me by your name (2007), by André Aciman, and in its translation into Portuguese, Me chame pelo seu nome (2018), by Alessandra Esteche. The original novel uses, besides English, seven foreign languages, while its translation adds, to these eight languages, the Portuguese language itself. We analyzed five forms of intratextual translation in those two works: with interlinguistic translation, without interlinguistic translation, with metalinguistic comments, in quotations, and in specific hybridities. With a comparison of the systematic exploration of intratextual translation in those works, we seek to understand the mode of narrativization and the opacity effect produced by this literary resource on the English-language novel and on its respective translation into Portuguese.
