O violão, bem junto ao peito: dedilhando histórias de ensino, música e relações humanas

Abstract

This academic memoir, entitled “The Guitar, held close to the chest: fingerpicking narratives of teaching, music, and human relationships”, reflects my personal and professional trajectory, as a professor of the Undergraduate Course in Music at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) with a focus on the guitar instrument, and it is submitted to fulfill part of the requirements for Promotion from the rank Associate Professor IV to Full Professor in the Higher Education Career, in accordance with MEC Ordinance No. 982, of October 3, 2013, regulated by the Resolution No. 3/2017, of the Board of Directors of the Federal University of Uberlândia, of June 9, 2017. Its content reflects my professional actions, surrounded by those who co-created this path alongside me. A journey that has resulted in a book, recordings, academic lectures, project coordination, participation in final thesis committees, student mentorship, and leadership positions. From my 44 years as a teacher, from the pillars of university work – teaching, research, extension and management – I report on the actions that, beyond technical knowledge, were built with deep love for music, the guitar, teaching, and people, always grounded in a belief in public, free, and quality education.
