Tradução audiovisual acessível: uma proposta de LSE para o desenho animado "She-Ra e as Princesas do Poder"

Abstract

The issue of accessibility has been increasingly discussed in recent years, both legally and academically speaking. Thus, from the large field of Audiovisual Translation Studies, a new sub-area has emerged: the Accessible Audiovisual Translation, which aims at the production of accessible audiovisual products. One of its types of translation aims at the needs of hearing-impaired people: the Subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing. Therefore, this research purpose is to make a subtitling proposal for the deaf and hard of hearing of the cartoon She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, based on the Brazilian guide named Guia de Produções Audiovisuais Acessíveis, from the Ministry of Culture, with the intention of contributing to the inclusion of the deaf community. The objectives were to analyze and discuss the existing parameters of this type of translation and comment on the complications encountered during the translation process. The parameters used for the production were based, besides the Ministry of Culture's own guide, on research in the area (ARAÚJO, 2008; ARAÚJO et al. 2013; ARAÚJO, ALVES; 2017; NASCIMENTO, 2013). It was concluded that the production of a subtitle script is a complicated activity, both because there is still a lack of research on certain important aspects for accessibility, such as the sound effects, but also because the translator must have a certain sensibility to make decisions about what to prioritize during translation, aiming at the best possible result for the target audience.
