Violência e homens trans: um estudo exploratório

Abstract

Transsexuality has already been presented in academic and social discussions for some decades, but male transsexuality is still little discussed by these instances. This identity transgresses gender binarism and is often the target of the pathologization of medical-psis institutions. The consequence of this pathologization is the exclusion of these subjects in their rights, in health institutions and in society. Thus, we can say that, in a way, society in general is responsible for the various violence that this population suffers from family and institutional violence to homicide. The absence of specific data on the violence suffered by this population makes difficult the construction of laws and public policies necessary to the aid of the same. Therefore, the present research aims to conduct an exploratory study about the perception of violence suffered by 8 trans men using the Center for Reference in Integral Attention to Transespecific Health (CRAIST) of the Hospital das Clínicas de Uberlândia of the Federal University of Uberlândia (HCU- UFU).
