Abstract

The modern society in its urban context requires the understanding of its systematization and dynamic as well as the factors that influence their quality of life. The study of sanitation on the basis of sustainable development is necessary because of its importance, taking into account its relationship to public health. Is discussed by increasingly be necessary to create sustainable patterns of development that take into account environmental, economic, social, ethical and cultural aspects and also serve as a benchmark for measuring the progress of society toward sustainable cities, quality of life and healthy environments for their populations. These standards are benchmarks to measure the progress of society, were appointed Sustainability Indicators and are expressed in Agenda 21 as sanitation and health. Thus the scope is need of the need of improving environmental health, considering the social, political and economic implications. For this pick will be observed urban area of Araguari, as well as matters relating to sanitation and environmental health through research in the Department of Health and Superintendent of Water and Sewer, thus fostering analysis of the results of a view scenario presented by these variables. Thus, the relevance of this study is to propose observations with the aim of contributing to the management and planning from a reading of reality through analysis of information of facts and trends shown by the data of sanitation and public health in Araguari - MG being the indicator ISA reference to both, since this collection and comparison of data, were never held in the city studied, this research is warranted to explain, quantify and discuss this indicator whose use is an administrative innovation. All, with the objective of identifying ways to improve public sanitation service in the pursuit of overcoming underdevelopment.
