Soft power e colonialismo: o caso Saara Ocidental sob a ótica das relações de poder entre Brasil e Marrocos

Abstract

This article aims to analyse the power relations, under the categories of hard and soft power, between Brazil and Morocco, linked to the conflict over the independence of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, commonly known as Western Sahara. In this sense, the aim of the paper is to investigate whether there are pre-existing links of "soft power" between Brazilian and Moroccan culture which, if proven, could be one of the reasons justifying Brazil's neutral stance in terms of supporting the Saharawi people and disapproving of the exploitation of the region's natural resources. In addition, as a theoretical reference for this article, authors were used whose studies and criticisms are based on a decolonial perspective of international law. Finally, in order to achieve the objectives described, this work used deductive methodology and qualitative bibliographical research.
