O agronegócio de olho na educação: o movimento De Olho no Material Escolar e a Geografia da Educação

Abstract

This research aims to understand the intervention vectors of the "De Olho no Material Escolar"(DONME) (Focusing on School Supplies) and their implications for the Geography of Education. The analysis of DONME is anchored in three central intervention vectors: politics, media, and education. To this end, the expansion of Brazilian agribusiness was analyzed from both an economic and a political-ideological perspective, understanding DONME as a Private Apparatus of Hegemony (Aparelho Privado de Hegemonia - APHs) in the educational field. Regarding the political intervention vector, it is argued that the rural caucus played a fundamental role in the legislative access to public policy formulation for the association, achieving its initial objective of entering the public debate to alter textbooks. In the media as avector, it is understood that the association used digital media spaces to articulate its discourses, transforming technopolitical surveillance into interference in civil and political society. Ineducation, DONME is understood as a political-educational actor mediating global educational policies on a local scale, assisting in the implementation and permanence of neoliberaleducational policies in Brazil. In this way, DONME operates within a global network of educational policies that finds fertile ground in the digital environment, entering public spaceswith the goal of reshaping Brazilian educational policies. To achieve the research objectives, we structured the dissertation methodology as qualitative, bibliographic, and documentary research, systematizing and analyzing data from news reports, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), and official materials from DONME.
