Relações entre as demandas epidemiológicas, assistência integral às vítimas de violência infanto juvenil e a Atenção Primária à Saúde

Abstract

The effective functioning of the protection network associated with the reporting of cases of violence against children and adolescents is an essential tool for identifying risk situations and providing follow-up care for victims. Furthermore, it enables the coordination of intersectoral actions aimed at prevention, protection, and accountability, contributing to a qualified response to this problem in the region. The objective of this study was to discuss violence against children and adolescents in Brazil and the challenges facing the protection network, as well as to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of reports of violence against children and adolescents recorded in the municipality of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, from 2019 to 2024. The research was conducted in two stages. The first involved the drafting of a book chapter, developed from a literature review. The second consisted of a documentary, epidemiological study conducted through the analysis of reports of violence against children and adolescents in the municipality of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, between 2019 and 2024. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, employing the Jamovi software. The results showed that, despite Brazil’s legal framework aimed at protecting children and adolescents, challenges persist in the implementation of public policies, while the analysis of reports in Uberlândia (MG) revealed an increasing trend in cases and distinct epidemiological patterns throughout the life cycle, with incidents predominantly occurring in the home environment and a significant association with family ties. The integration of the two studies allows us to conclude that violence against children and adolescents is not limited to isolated incidents but reflects structural limitations in the response capacity of the protection network.
