Impasses na transmissão familiar contemporânea: reflexos (para-além) da agressividade na infância

Abstract

This article constitutes a theoretical study, supported by the psychoanalytic method, that aims to analyze aggressiveness in childhood and its relationship with the challenges in contemporary family transmission. This investigation arises from clinical experience during a psychology internship, in which the intern encountered the child's subjective arrangements in the face of family demands. Initially, the research provides a brief overview of the theme of family and psychoanalysis in Freud and Lacan. Subsequently, it analyzes how psychoanalytic literature explores the impact of contemporary social transformations on the exercise of parental roles and the upbringing of children. Furthermore, the political and clinical interconnections are discussed, revealing the influence of social discourses on parents' attempts to deny the lack in their relationship with their children. This context reflects a malaise in family transmission which, as this study seeks to demonstrate, is demonstrated in something ‘beyond aggression’ in childhood. Thus, to consider the effects of this challenge on children's subjectivity, we revisit the place assigned to aggressiveness by psychoanalytic theory, highlighting the importance of its recognition by the Other in the constitution of the subject. From this, we articulate the idea of a constitutive aggressiveness with the demands for docility and control in childhood that also proliferate within the family, to analyze how children have responded to this obstacle with something ‘beyond aggression’, and how such productions can be an attempt to resist subjugation. To illustrate these issues, clinical vignettes are used. Lastly, we offer a counterpoint to the predominant readings on the manifestations of aggressiveness in childhood, which are marked by the fervor to categorize them within psychopathological conditions.
