Arquétipos em ação: a coletividade na jornada do herói dos karas em a droga da obediência

Abstract

The hero's journey is a recurrent structure in the constitution of narratives in different media and areas of knowledge. Many works of youth literature mobilize the hero's journey, intending to reproduce it or cause some rupture. This paper analyzes the interaction between the archetypes proposed by Christopher Vogler in The Writer's Journey: mythical structures for writers (2015) and the charac-ters in the series Os Karas, by Pedro Bandeira, with a specific focus on the volume The Drug of Obedience (2014). Joseph Campbell, in The Hero with a Thousand Faces (2003), developed the Hero's Journey and Vogler expanded these concepts in his work, especially recurring aspects in the trajectories of the protagonists, known as heroes. One aspect of the analysis consisted of determining whether the hero archetype would be exclusive to a single character or shared among the members of the group and how this dynamic affected the collective narrative and the interactions between them, in addition to also considering the role of the heroine and her influences in this narrative. The research, in relation to methodology, applied a bibliographic and qualitative approach that involved the analysis of the characters and their characteristics related to the archetypes present. Among the results of the study, the relevance of archetypes for the creation of meaningful stories aimed at young audiences stood out, motivating a more insightful interpretation of works aimed at this age group.
