Abstract

This work addresses the body as a mean of artistic expression, focusing on body paintings and tattoos. Initially, the study investigates the concept of the body as an artistic support, discussing its historical and cultural importance, and then delves into the art of indigenous graphics as an example of cultural resistance. The history of tattooing is addressed, with emphasis on the social transformations that allowed the overcoming of sexist stereotypes in tattoo practice and the recognition of women in this field. The work then turns to a more personal analysis, presenting the history and meaning of the tattoos made by the author throughout life, highlighting tattooing as a powerful tool for personal expression. The conclusion reinforces the importance of tattooing as a form of art, cultural resistance, and personal expression, encouraging new studies and reflections on the topic.
