Mulheres de vida invisível e o sacrifício de si por “amor”: uma análise da obra A Vida Invisível de Eurídice Gusmão

Abstract

This article aims to establish a connection between Psychology and Literature to investigate the development of identity construction and the effects of the process on women's aging. To do so, an analysis of the literary work "The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão" by Martha Batalha was conducted, grounded in historical-cultural Psychology. The literary work belongs to the fiction genre and provides a rich and coherent historical setting regarding the relentless role of patriarchy in disempowering women, with a focus on the gendering of the experience of love. The text intends to emphasize the central role that the experience of love plays in the life and aging of women and how this experience may be linked to the difficulty of overcoming the presupposed identity.
