| Summary: | Os jogos digitais e eletrônicos estão presentes no cotidiano das pessoas, seja pelos celulares ou consoles dedicados. Sendo um mercado em crescimento, a localização tem o papel de disponibilizar este conteúdo ao redor do mundo, adaptando-se às condições socioculturais da região. A partir desse ponto, este trabalho elaborou e analisou uma possível tradução para o jogo West of Loathing, um RPG de faroeste publicado em 2017 pela empresa Asymmetric. O jogo se baseia no final do século XIX no Velho Oeste Estadunidense com elementos humorísticos e referências históricas. Foi um software para a retirada e inserção de textos. Com base em Zavaglia et. al., este trabalho elaborou uma tradução comentada do jogo e mostrou a importância da localização e seus aspectos técnicos. |
| Abstract: | Videogames are present in many ways in modern society. They are in cell phones, personal computers or video game consoles. Being an emerging industry, localization has the objective of making available such digital content around the world, adapting to the locale’s sociocultural aspects. This paper has made a possible translation of the Western-themed RPG video game West of Loathing, published by Asymmetric in 2017. The game is set in the American Frontier at the end of the 19th century, with historical references and slapstick comedy. Using the concept of commented translation by Zavaglia et. al., this paper showed the importance of localization in video games and its technical aspects. |
