Abordagem diagnóstica e terapêutica de um Ameloblastoma convencional

Abstract

Ameloblastoma is a benign tumor derived from the odontogenic epithelium that has a slow growth pattern, but is locally aggressive and can cause significant morbidity. The basis of treatment is surgery, which can be conservative, such as enucleation and/or curettage, up to resection with wide margins. The objective of this work is to present the case of a female patient, who was diagnosed with a solid ameloblastoma in the posterior region of the right mandible. The tumor was treated through partial resection surgery with safety margins, and the defect was reconstructed in a second surgical procedure, using free autogenous bone graft from the iliac crest, associated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the postoperative period. After six months of reconstructive surgery, it was possible to observe satisfactory integration of the graft. The patient will be rehabilitated through implant-supported prostheses to restore masticatory function.
