Abstract

This work sought to understand the relationship between the sertanista Antônio Pires de Campos and the Bororo indigenous people he settled in the region of the current Triângulo Mineiro, and how this indigenous policy of the settlements clashed and came into accommodation with the indigenous policy. The objective is to analyze part of historical documentation from the 18th century, with emphasis on the period between 1742 and 1751, with a view to unveiling the negotiation processes of the indigenous villagers with the structure of the colonial administration. Bringing two areas into dialogue, History and Anthropology, the historical documents and the bibliography on the subject were analyzed from the perspective of otherness, based on the indiciary paradigm of the historian Carlo Ginzburg. The work was also based on the perspective of the so-called New Indigenous History. Through the documentary sources and bibliography already written on the subject, it was possible to perceive that the Bororo indigenous people living in the region negotiated their existence and participation according to their own interests and signs.
