Políticas públicas brasileiras e população trans: algumas dimensões psicossociais

Abstract

The new ways of experiencing gender and sexuality that emerge in the contemporary world break and challenge the heterocisnormative model. However, the hegemony of this model in the face of emerging forms creates a context of pathologization, marginalization and social exclusion of trans experiences, building a scenario of clash and political struggles for the guarantee of rights. In this context, the present study aimed to analyze some psychosocial dimensions of the process of structuring public policies regarding the trans population in Brazil. Based on the methodological bias of Discourse Analysis, federal documents were selected, since 1988 to the present day, from which we sought to draw a brief overview of the main aspects related to the establishment of public policies for trans population amidst the Brazilian psychosociocultural context. The analysis allowed us to identify psychosocial dimensions in which Brazil does not provide the trans population the full exercise of their rights guaranteed by the Federal Constitution, failing to contemplate and guarantee fundamental rights, such as the right to work, professional qualification, access to education, culture, leisure, security, citizenship, among others. The study concludes that Brazil needs to strengthen policies that aim for the right to diversity, as well as the scientific and institutional development of mechanisms that guarantee rights.
