| Summary: | Este projeto aborda a criação de uma fonte digital baseada nas tipografias vernaculares de Uberlândia, com objetivo de mostrar como uma tipografia pode refletir a identidade de uma região. A partir da investigação dos elementos tipográficos dos letreiramento encontrados na cidade, foi proposta uma relação entre a prática manual de desenho de letras com o desenvolvimento tipográfico digital. A pesquisa foi dividida em dois momentos, o Referência Teórico e o Desenvolvimento. A primeira busca esclarecer o papel da tipografia, da tipografia vernacular e relação entre a cultura popular e o design. A segunda parte se apoiou em métodos de criação tipográfica digital apresentados por MOREIRA (2016) e CHENG (2020), e descreve o processo prático e as decisões realizadas que resultaram em uma fonte digital de 66 caracteres. |
| Abstract: | This project deals with the creation of a digital font based on the vernacular typographies of Uberlândia, with the focus of showing how a typography can reflect the identity of a region. From the investigation of the typographic elements of the lettering found in the city, a relationship between the manual practice of lettering design and the digital typographic development was proposed. The research was divided into two moments, the Theoretical Reference and the Development. The first seeks to clarify the role of typography, vernacular typography and the relationship between popular culture and design. The second part was based on digital typographic creation methods presented by MOREIRA (2016) and (CHENG, 2020), and describes the practical process and the decisions made that resulted in a 66-character digital font. |
