Festa&identidade: Contribuições da produção cultural na construção identitária de jovens produtores negres de Uberlândia

Abstract

This undergraduate dissertation starts from a reflection on some Afro-centered parties held by black youth in Uberlândia – Minas Gerais (Brazil), and how it contributes to the identity formation of these producers. I carry out a qualitative research, starting from my life path as an artist and cultural agent, in order to study concepts of identity and culture. I use the investigation method of the social group that I am part of, known as study up (LOFLAND apud ESSED apud KILOMBA, 2019, p. 82), aiming at rectifying in a small step the hegemony of the production of knowledge about cultural production and their intersections with black people and people from the L.G.B.T.Q.I.A.+ community. The objectives are to discuss some factors, such as: history of cultural policies; public policies looking towards cultural diversity; the myth of racial democracy; the enactment of the federal law 10.639 / 2003; quota reservation in federal institutions; Support Program for the Restructuring and Expansion of Federal Universities (REUNI, a Brazilian abbreviation); and culture black in Uberlândia. In addition to associate the impact that these aspects have on the identity construction of young black producers responsible for the production of events in Uberlândia: Bafro, Baile da Cuceta, and Zureta, in the period from 2018 to 2019.
