Violência Obstétrica:perspectivas de enfermeiras obstetras e profissionais de enfermagem em um Hospital Universitário

Abstract

Introduction: According to the World Health Organization, many women around the world suffer abuse, disrespect and mistreatment during childbirth in health institutions. Such treatment not only violates women's rights to respectful care, but also threatens the right to life, health, physical integrity and non-discrimination. Objective: Understand obstetric violence from the perspective of obstetric nurses and nursing professionals, during childbirth and birth care. Methodology: This is an exploratory, descriptive, qualitative study, developed with 7 obstetric nurses and 23 nursing technicians, working at the Obstetric Center (OC), Hospital de Clínicas, Universidade Federal de Uberlândia. Results: For social authors, obstetric violence is a reality and is present in different scenarios in the life of women. As it is a category that still has a small number of professionals specialized in obstetrics, its autonomy due to the violence practiced on the parturient / puerperal woman is limited. Final considerations: Obstetric violence is still an unpleasant reality practiced mainly by the medical profession, however it covers nursing, since for lack of autonomy, aggression is omitted.
