Caracterização de opiniões e práticas de adultos uberlandenses sobre a divisão de papeis de gênero na família

Abstract

This research is part of the Research for Social Perceptions and Opinions of 2017 (PEPSO-2017), a project carried out by the research group Eclipse - Laboratory of Ideology and Social Perception, and has as its theme the division of gender roles in the family from the context of Uberlândia. In order to understand the theme, concepts of social role, gender role, family, ideology, their relation to one another and the main aspects related to the theme were discussed. With the theory we realize that the division of gender roles in the family is configured in men as providers and women as caregivers. In this sense, the proposal for this study was to analyze these roles through a structured interview script with some tasks in the family. For analysis, frequency analyzes and correspondence analysis were used. With the cross-tabulation between the variables on the tasks with the sociodemographic data, it was schooling and age group that had greater representativeness and proportionality to understand the sample. In general, there is greater responsibility for women when it comes to roles in the family. In the representation of opinions and practices we realize that the weight of practices is greater and makes us think that opinions are related to change of generation, while practices can relate to consolidated opinions of other generations. Ideology, in this context, functions as a system that underpins the gender hierarchy in the family.
