Tratamento alternativo para resíduos sólidos urbanos: uma proposta para a cidade de Uberlândia MG

Abstract

The landfill is the main means of final disposal for urban solid waste from the municipality of Uberlândia, even with the beginning of selective collection in the city. Alternatives, beyond those which are under development in the municipality, must be thought of as the grounding is an option with large impacts on the environment. Therfore, this research aims to develop a proposal for the city of Uberlândia with a new alternative for treating urban solid waste that doesn t prioritize its grounding and brings greater socio-environmental gains. The methodology consisted of field work, bibliographic surveys and references, which was based on the preparation of the proposal with the adoption of technology in Nature Clean Project (Projeto Natureza Limpa), developed by a private company, located in the municipality of Unaí - MG. The choice of technology had requirements as to not prioritize the grounding of urban solid waste in its process, eliminating the least toxic gases and greenhouse effects, without diminishing, though, the available biomass, in other words, returning to the whole production cycle the one residue which can be reused in other processes of energy recovery. Therefore, the results are reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases, use of the energy potential of biomass, return to productive market and still decrease or elimination of environmental impacts caused by poor waste disposal. Consequently, the social gains are guided in improving environmental health and municipal governance for the use of positive credit balances for the common benefit.
