Polarização no cenário geopolítico contemporâneo: legado pós-guerra fria

Abstract

This work starts from the Cold War as a period of political bipolarity between the United States and Soviet Union. In the scenario opened up by the so called New World order, part of the literature started to interpretate the international system as multipolar, while an other part highlighted the permanence of american hegemony. The research analyses the global geopolitical scene post Cold War to discuss if there is, today, one new polarization between United States and China. Aditionally it examinates the ideological and party-affiliated polarization in western democracies. For that, it mobilizes several scientific articles and books about the Cold War, Post Cold War, political radicalization, extremism in western democracies, american-chinese tensions and characteristics of the chinese and american political systems.
