Abstract: This Final Course Project, developed in the Visual Arts course, investigates the presence and visibility of black teachers working in the field in Uberlândia, using photography as a tool for recording, memory, and affirmation. The research stems from concerns raised by reading Viola Davis' autobiography, In Search of Me, and by the perception of the limited presence of black references and teachers in the academic and school environment. The observation of low representation in the teaching staff of educational institutions motivated questions about the trajectories of these professionals and the conditions for remaining in the artistic and educational field. The project combines bibliographic research, interviews, and photographic production, proposing the construction of a visual and exhibition collection that values narratives that are often invisible. Previous experience in the extension project Afrofotobiografias em questão: A visibilidade dos invisíveis (Afrofotobiographies in question: The visibility of the invisible) contributed to the methodological deepening and understanding of listening as a central procedure of the investigation. By bringing together active teachers and recent graduates, the work seeks to reflect on representation, permanence, and recognition, affirming photography as a political gesture of visibility and the construction of collective memory.
