Entre memória e paisagem: cor e subjetividade na pintura

Abstract

This thesis investigates landscape painting as a space where memory, color, and subjectivity intersect, understanding the landscape as a language capable of expressing sensitive and affective experiences. To this end, it adopts a theoretical-practical approach based on bibliographical research, the analysis of artworks from different periods of art history, and the development of original paintings. The theoretical framework relies on authors who discuss the historical constitution of the landscape, its symbolic dimensions, and the role of color in the aesthetic experience. Throughout the research, the productions of artists who engage with the investigated issues are analyzed, demonstrating different ways of understanding the landscape as a subjective experience. In parallel, the pictorial production developed during this study highlights the recurrence of elements such as trees, paths, rivers, and horizons, which are understood as images permeated by memory and affect. The results show that landscape painting goes beyond the representation of external space, becoming a field of sensitive investigation in which artistic practice acts as a process of creation and knowledge production, reinforcing its potential as a legitimate form of research in the field of Visual Arts.
