O que permanece vivo: afeto, memória e luto em A avó adormecida

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze how literature may contribute to the elaboration of grief in childhood following the loss of grandparents, using A avó adormecida (2023), by Roberto Parmeggiani, as the object of analysis. This is a qualitative study grounded in Cultural-Historical Psychology — specifically Vygotsky's Psychology of Art-and articulated with the discussions of Antonio Candido. The study seeks to understand how the narrative and visual elements of the work contribute to the symbolic construction of the experience of loss in childhood, addressing illness, death, and the continuity of bonds in a sensitive and accessible way for children. It is believed that illustrated literature may act as a mediator in the emotional organization of grief, enabling the expression of feelings, the symbolic elaboration of absence, and the resignification of loss, based on the potential of art and literature as a possibility for humanization in the face of experiences of death and grief.
