Uberlândia entre a pena e a vitrine: narrativas memorialísticas e museológicas na construção da memória oficial de Uberlândia (1916-2026)

Abstract

The objective of this work is to analyze critically and compare the historical-memorial narratives in the works of Roberto Capri (1916) and Pedro Pezzuti (1922) and the museological historical narrative produced by the exhibition Nossas Raízes at the Municipal Museum of Uberlândia, inaugurated in 2000. Firstly, the historiographical character of memorialist works and how these works influence history and historiography is discussed. An analysis is made about the works to highlight their importance in the construction of collective memory, and another critical analysis is made of the Nossas Raízes exhibition. These two memorialists aim, even if indirectly, to construct an official historical narrative of Uberlândia/MG, given that such narratives are directly or indirectly linked to dominant social groups and the established municipal public power. This research also observes how memorialist works are pioneers in the construction of the city's collective memory and how the aforementioned exhibition can be seen as an heir to this construction, preserving and disseminating this memory. Therefore, it can be noticed that narrative constructions related to civility, order, progress, and modernity, have greatly influenced political, economic, social, and cultural life in Uberlândia since the 20th century, are still present in contemporary times. Finally, the research proposes a pedagogical intervention that focuses on museological and heritage narratives and offers critical perspectives to students on heritage, representation, memory and history in Uberlândia.
