| Resumen: | Este artigo tem como objetivo central identificar e analisar o apelo e a manifestação do grotesco na literatura da primeira metade do século XIX, especificamente na escrita de Edgar Allan Poe e seu célebre conto, O gato preto (1843). Aqui, o grotesco é compreendido como categoria estética fundamental para o movimento romântico, sendo primordialmente definido pelo escritor francês, Victor Hugo. Para estabelecer investigação acerca dessa fonte e objeto de pesquisa, foi realizada análise bibliográfica da temática. |
| Abstract: | The central objective of this article is to identify and analyze the appeal and manifestation of the grotesque in the literature of the first half of the 19th century, specifically in the writings of Edgar Allan Poe and his celebrated short story The Black Cat (1843). Here, the grotesque is understood as a fundamental aesthetic category of the Romantic movement, primarily defined by the French writer Victor Hugo. To investigate this subject matter, a bibliographic analysis was conducted. |
