Abstract

This undergraduate thesis, developed at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU–MG), investigates the actor’s preparation process for performance in both theater and audiovisual media, with an emphasis on cinema, aiming to understand how organicity, impulses, and spontaneity are maintained across these two languages. The research takes as its object of analysis the works produced — a stage experiment and a film — both based on the short story “Aqueles Dois”, from the book Morangos Mofados, by Caio Fernando Abreu (1982). The study analyzes and documents the differences and similarities in the actor’s creative processes in each medium, through the experimentation of distinct acting techniques. The methodology is characterized as practice-led research, combining theoretical study, experimentation within an acting study group — coordinated by the author — and the practical experience of both theatrical production and film production processes. As theoretical references, the research engages with the studies of Constantin Stanislavski, Lee Strasberg, Thaís Mansano, and Sanford Meisner, the latter serving as the main guiding axis of the investigation.
