Neutropenia febril: protocoloassistencial do Hospital de Clínicas da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia

Abstract

Introduction: The neutropenic fever is one of the most common oncologic emergencies, a serious clinical condition that requires rapid and accurate diagnosis to ensure effective interventions and reduce associated mortality. Objective: To develop the care protocol of HC-UFU aimed at healthcare professionals involved in the management of oncology patients at risk of febrile neutropenia, ensuring appropriate treatment based on scientific evidence. Materials and Methods: The protocol was developed after reviewing and evaluating the efficacy and adherence of the main protocols reported in the literature regarding the diagnosis and treatment of febrile neutropenia, with subsequent discussion and adaptation to the institutional reality. Results: Recent studies demonstrate low adherence to guidelines in the management of febrile neutropenia, especially among low-risk patients, highlighting relevant gaps in protocol implementation. Conclusion: The HC-UFU care protocol compiles updated recommendations adapted to the conditions and resources of the service, aiming to standardize practices, improve quality of care, and enhance clinical outcomes.
