O conceito de soberania em O príncipe de Nicolau Maquiavel

Abstract

The current research had the purpose of exploring some of the thematics related to the life of Nicollò Machiavelli and to his most renowned work, The Prince, focusing especially on his Theory of Sovereignty. So, in this research, the life of Machiavelli is extensively discussed, sustaining the hypothesis that his life is indissociable from the alluded work, thus, presenting it is indispensable to the precise comprehension of the theme of the Prince, and, consequently, to Machiavelli’s political philosophy. This work is divided in three sections: introduction, development and conclusion. In the first of them, we focused on the thematic of The Prince; the second one brings the theoretical content of this work, linking it to the historical context in which Machiavelli found himself. Finally, in the last section, we present the conclusions obtained during the period that the research was conducted.
