Entre notas e traduções: análise das versões musicais do filme Frozen: uma aventura congelante

Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of the Portuguese versions of the songs Do You Want to Build a Snowman? (Você Quer Brincar na Neve?), Love is an Open Door (Vejo uma Porta Abrir), and Let It Go (Livre Estou) from the film Frozen. The specific objective is to identify the translation strategies employed in the process of musical versioning, examining how elements such as rhyme, rhythm, meter, prosody, elision, and lip-sync were applied to adapt the songs for Brazilian audiences. The research is grounded in theoretical studies on song translation and adaptation, combined with a comparative analysis between the original lyrics and their Portuguese versions. The results highlight the complexity of musical versioning, which requires not only linguistic transfer but also the preservation of the songs’ narrative and artistic functions, in addition to technical aspects such as rhythm, rhyme, meter, lip-sync, prosody, and elision. It is concluded that song translation in the cinematographic context plays an essential role in the cultural reception of productions, ensuring that they maintain their expressive power across different audiences.
