Reconstrução da mucosa prepucial com enxerto autógeno de túnica vaginal como tratamento de exérese tumoral em cão: relato de caso

Abstract

The reproductive organ of the dog consists of the prepuce, penis, and testicles. The canine prepuce is an external protective structure made up of parietal layers connected to the abdominal skin and a visceral layer that closely envelops and moistens the penis. Neoplasms commonly occur throughout the male genital tract, with the most malignant being skin tumors as well as grade 1 to 3 mast cell tumors and hemangiosarcoma, where treatment is exclusively the excision of the tumor mass.The objective of this work is to report the case of a fertile male canine patient of the Pit Bull breed with a history of a nodule in the preputial region, attended at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Uberlândia (HOVET-UFU). The surgical technique performed was the excision of the tumor, including part of the skin and preputial mucosa as a safety margin. For reconstructing the mucosal tube surrounding the penis, a free graft from the visceral layer of the vaginal tunic was used due to its physiological properties resembling mucosal tissue.To cover the surgical wound, bilateral inguinal fold flaps were used, synthesized with a zigzag suture pattern using PGA 2-0 and simple interrupted dermorrhaphy with nylon 2-0. The technique proved effective, showing good healing associated with efficient penile sliding and recovery of the patient.
