Panorama dos cursos de relações internacionais no Brasil e o ensino à distância

Abstract

The first International Relations (IR) higher education course in Brazil started its operation in 1974, since then, the course has gained more space in the higher education landscape, and today it is present in 168 higher education institutions. The history of the course and the general view on the course’s landscape was described in detail by Maia (2020). However, the supply of International Relations courses has been through significant transformations in recent years. One of the reasons was the necessity of compliance of curricula after the enaction of the National Curricular Guidelines in 2017, the main reason for the transformations, however, was the expansion of distance learning courses in recent years. For that end, a database was structured from the information gathered in the EMEC platform, from the Ministry of Education. The data obtained was used in conjunction with data gathered from the official sources of different courses in as well as secondary sources of research that detail the instruction of IR in Brazil. The conclusion calls for the necessity of detailed analyses on the impact of distance learning on the higher education of IR in the country.
