A história esquecida investigações sobre escravização indígena no novo mundo

Abstract

This monograph brings together interests from Anthropology and History and aims to address a little explored topic: the enslavement of indigenous people during the 18th and 19th centuries in the region that today corresponds to the current Triângulo Mineiro. Based on data from part of historical documentation and bibliographical references on the topic, the objective is to unveil the historical processes and possible networks of subjects, signs and interests in relationship during the enslavement of indigenous people. The documentary and bibliographic material, read in the light of the evidentiary paradigm, ethnology and the new indigenous history, should then allow us to reconstruct some aspects of slavery in the region and place this theme in a new perspective. It is hoped, therefore, to contribute to a better understanding of the history of contacts, wars and negotiations between indigenous people and others. The main objective of our studies is to rescue the historicity of the “conquered peoples” amidst the representations and actions of conquest enterprises.
