Teoria da pós-verdade e o movimento bolsonarista

Abstract

The aim of this work is to examine the construction of the Bolsonaro movement in Brazil, through the use of misinformation dissemination during the tenure of the former president, Jair Messias Bolsonaro. To achieve this, we will observe the Bolsonaro phenomenon through the lens of post-truth theory, which analyzes the circulation of false information and its impact on society and modern democracies. The focus of utilizing this theory in this project is the study of the presence of these fake news and their strategic use in the political sphere. It is emphasized that the discourse of former President Bolsonaro and his support base has been based on a dualistic discourse, highlighting a constant struggle between good and evil and the defense of conservative moral values. Furthermore, this base has embraced disinformation as a means of propagating its agenda and constantly attacking democratic institutions. In view of this, from the perspective of post-truth theory, cases exposing the use of fake news will be analyzed, indicating the impacts of dualistic discourse, the base's conservative beliefs, and disruptive discourse on Brazilian democracy. Considering that information holds the power of narrative constructions, it is necessary to observe how untrue news exercises influence within a political movement, having the strength to create a parallel reality in which beliefs take precedence over facts.
