Implantação de quartos de pré-parto, parto e pós-parto em um hospital universitário: percepções acerca do processo e da assistência prestada à mulher e ao recém-nascido

Abstract

Pregnancy, labor and childbirth are some of the most important experiences in women’s and their families’ lives. The Rede Cegonha was established in 2011, which among the proposals that make up Rede Cegonha's good practice strategies, there is the adequacy of the ambience of delivery rooms and maternity wards. It regulates and highlights the importance of the environment as a welcoming, resolving and humane place in health care, as one of the ways to guarantee the humanization of care. Pre-delivery, delivery and post-partum (PPP) rooms are recommended as ideal environments by most of the Ministry of Health regulations, where the care provided during all clinical periods takes place in the same environment from hospitalization to discharge, with a proper ambience. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the implementation process of the PPP rooms at the Hospital de Clínicas de Uberlândia, through the perceptions of the care team that experienced the change in the delivery care environment. METHODS: Qualitative approach study, in which data will be collected from focus groups. RESULTS: The analysis resulted in four thematic categories: “Ambience”, “Work Process”, “Preparation for childbirth” and “Previous Model”. In the thematic category “Ambience”, both the infrastructure and the welcoming and comfort factors in the environment are discussed, in which the professionals highlighted the positive aspects of the change and pending problems to be addressed. In the thematic category “Work process”, the dimensioning of the nursing team, the cohesion between multidisciplinary teams and the excess of people present in the care during the second stage are discussed. In the thematic category “Preparation for childbirth”, speeches are observed referring to the unpreparedness of the pregnant woman and the companion during pregnancy for the experience of childbirth and it is inferred that the team is unprepared. In the thematic category “Previous Model”, the ambience and attributions of the team prior to the implementation of the PPP rooms are discussed, in which the statements refer to difficulty and damage to the care of women and newborns. CONCLUSION: There was a change in the physical space, with a guarantee of greater privacy and comfort, with an increase in the care centered on women by the team. The professionals interviewed were able to observe a positive impact on the families through the change in ambience.
