Afetos do Futebol na Narração Radiofônica: análise sobre a dimensão comunicacional do afeto na transmissão do jogo Oeste x São Bento

Abstract

The premise of this monograph is the intrinsic relationship between the local fans, the institution of a club, including the team on the field, and the media, which encompasses various forms of communication, in the construction of affection around the narration of a significant episode in the history of a football team from the interior of Brazil - the rise of Esporte Clube São Bento to the A1 series in the Paulista Championship in 2023. Based on the radio broadcast by Cruzeiro FM from Sorocaba about the match between Oeste and São Bento, valid for the second leg of the semi-finals of the 2022 Paulista Championship Serie A2, this research explores the communicational dimension of football affections in the game narration and the reality of football in the interior. First, concepts related to football (TOLEDO, 2000) and sports narration (GUIMARÃES, 2020) are employed, inspiring the development of a "triad" of fans-club-media as a way to articulate the affections of football, as it became evident how each of these elements affects the other in a nonlinear manner. This work then articulates different theorizations about the relationship between communication and affection, from the sensitive strategies (SODRÉ, 2006) mobilized by the media to affect the audience, to the interactional processes (BRAGA, 2011) involved in the social construction of affection, and the subjective changes (MARCONDES FILHO, 2012) in the people who are part of this relationship. Relating both cultural aspects and the author's personal experience, the analysis begins with the contextualization of the championship and then addresses five selected moments: Oeste's goal, Oeste's missed goal, São Bento's goal, the penalty shootout, and the celebration of São Bento's promotion. These moments are analyzed in three ways: the visual description of the moment, the cultural materiality of the radio narration, and the metaphorical account of the moment in the stadium. From the analysis of these moments, affective categories are constructed, which highlight how the communicational dimension of affect in a radio narrative goes far beyond individual emotion and encompasses issues that cross-culturally affect storytelling, such as signs of emotion, different levels of trust in the game, abrupt reactions from the narrator, the fans, and the club's agents, references to other moments in football, dynamics of tradition and memory, intersections of multiple technicalities, and the recognition of idols, which we refer to as "pantheonization"
