Abstract

Pop culture is an element that should not be dismissed in International Relations analysis. As a representative of political and social life, the use of this tool not only increases the possibility of in-class learning - given the use of references of common knowledge. Furthermore, in certain historical moments pop culture was, also, constitutive of elements of political and social life. Therefore, in this paper it is used The Hunger Games saga - whose books and homonyms movies publication was a huge success in a global scale - in order to facilitate the understanding of a theoretical reference that is considered of relevance to the field of International Relations, Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe’s Discourse Theory. The intersection among the IR field and the author’s work brings great benefits to the subject, given its formulations and analysis about the social field and the formation of identities.
