Promoção à saúde e bem-estar animal em abrigos de Uberlândia

Abstract

The promotion of health and animal welfare in shelters is a topic of great importance, since these are places that house animals that have been homeless for a period, with the aim of restoring their health and being fit. to be relocated to permanent homes through responsible adoption. This work is usually carried out by non-governmental organizations and independent protectors in conjunction with the population, and can sometimes count on the support of the public authorities. Therefore, the research problem of this work is to seek to understand how shelters in Uberlândia are currently able to carry out measures of animal welfare and health promotion, also raising the question of how managers understand the importance of implementing such actions. The main objective of the present work is to know and evaluate the existing shelters in the city of Uberlândia, as well as to evaluate the admission rate, adoption rate, the average time of rehabilitation and castrations, if there is investment in preventive medicine, strategies to capture resources, volunteering, partnerships, training and marketing. The methodology is of a qualitative-quantitative nature, that is, it is shown both with evaluative aspects and with quantitative data. Through a field research, the necessary information and data were gathered and an analysis was made of the content found to try to answer the problem. Eight shelters in the city of Uberlândia - MG participated in the research. The contacted data were tabulated according to blocks and tables below. In the present study, it was possible to observe closely how shelters work in practice. Talk to those in charge and show them the points directly that can be sent directly to the animals' welfare.
