Uma análise sobre as representações imagéticas da figura da mulher cientista em livros didáticos de física

Abstract

This work aims to analyze high school Physics textbooks, used in state schools of Minas Gerais, with the objective of quantifying the imagery representations of female figures of scientists in relation to male figures. The criteria for selecting the books were: to be a textbook and to be used in the Physics discipline of the public school system in Minas Gerais. Thus, 20 Physics textbooks were selected. During the research, it was found that there is a significant contribution of these books to the invisibility of the female figure in science. In the collection consulted in this work, 20 textbooks, only 35% of these books contain the figure of a female scientist. In addition, only 3 scientists appeared, Lisa Randall, Annie Jump Cannon, and Marie Curie, the last one with a total of seven appearances, the scientist who appeared most in the consulted books.
