Cerâmica Wauja: arte e eficácia estética no Museu do Índio da UFU

Abstract

The study that originated this article was carried out with the porpuse of understanding the millenary ceramic practice of the Braziian indigenous group called Wauja and reporting the experience lived in an ethnographic exhibition held at Museu do Índio of Federal University of Uberlândia in 2019. This artig reports on the cosmology Wauja and the relationship with the ceramist art, the social and ritual life of this group. It also thinks about the history of colection of indigenous artefacts in museums and the agentive power of these objects in the context of promoting heritage education through the practices of educational actions and public mediations. Finally, it argues about the importance of the integration between indigenous people and ethnographic museums to strengthen the protagomism of artists in museums institutions.
