O aprofundamento da perspectiva de gênero nas relações internacionais: um estudo da política externa feminista da Suécia

Abstract

This research explores Sweden's self-styled feminist foreign policy according to its ambitions and practices over the period from its implementation in 2015 to 2019. To this end, a construction was made that makes it possible to understand how Sweden was able to adopt the perspective of feminism in all areas of its foreign policy. In the first chapter, a theoretical review is made about the gender theme and how it is inserted in the field of study of International Relations. Posteriorly we present the third debate in the discipline and the various theoretical currents of feminism. We finish the first chapter working with foreign policy theory, to present the Swedish model in the third chapter. To reach what allows Sweden to adopt feminist foreign policy, on the second chapter we present a review of the construction of the Swedish welfare state: its “exceptional” model of economic development projected by social democracy, its foreign peace policy, neutrality and development cooperation and how Sweden works as gender issues in the domestic environment. All these characteristics produced in the Nordic country are one of the largest, if not the largest, institutionalized gender model in the world. The third chapter works with a thorough presentation of the Feminist Foreign Policy Manual prepared by the Swedish Foreign Service. Next, an analysis of this policy is made and we end by showing that the Swedish Feminist Foreign Policy does not follow the current stage of feminist thought, post-colonial, and therefore does not work with intersectional hierarchy systems such as racism, sexism, classism, colonialism, religion, sexuality, caste, ethnicity, age, etc. which is reflected in the way how gender identities (re)produce insecurities and structural problems.
