| Summary: | Esta pesquisa consiste em uma análise discursiva da cobertura do casamento real do príncipe Harry e de Meghan Markle, que ocorreu em 19 de maio de 2018, no jornal impresso Folha de S. Paulo. A escolha por esse tema se deve às características de Meghan, que é birracial, americana, plebeia segundo a perspectiva da família real, divorciada e mais velha que o príncipe. Estes aspectos a tornam diferente da maior parte dos membros dos nobres britânicos e geram singularidades na maneira como ela é retratada na imprensa, sugerindo que não pertence àquele ambiente. Também fazem com que Meghan se destaque na cobertura de modo que uma noiva branca, nobre e britânica não se destacaria. Por isso, pergunta-se: considerando o casamento real britânico, e a partir da análise das notícias do jornal Folha de S. Paulo, qual seria o acontecimento midiático: o casamento real em si ou a noiva, Meghan Markle? Para responder a questão, foi realizada a revisão bibliográfica dos conceitos de acontecimento, celebridade, interseccionalidade, colorismo e mestiçagem. A metodologia de análise foi a Análise de Discurso (AD) de linha francesa, de acordo com a teoria do linguista Dominique Maingueneau, para analisar a redação das notícias e relacioná-las com elementos como imagens e infográficos. Por meio da análise, se observou que, no início da cobertura, Meghan aparece como sujeito passivo, alvo da ação de Harry, que se casa com ela. Depois, a Folha introduz a mestiçagem da duquesa e ela passa a ser caracterizada como feminista e realizadora de mudanças na instituição antiga que é a família real por causa de suas características pouco comuns. Especialmente na última notícia analisada, o elemento mestiço está em destaque, já que a Folha coloca lado a lado características da noiva e do noivo e demonstra a mistura que ocorreu na cerimônia. Durante toda a cobertura, também está presente a depreciação da família real, que é retratada como entidade antiga e ultrapassada. Por fim, foi efetuada uma relação dos conceitos com os resultados da análise. Conclui-se que, apesar de Meghan ter se sobressaído em relação ao casamento, não é possível determinar com certeza o acontecimento, já que ambos estão imbricados. |
| Abstract: | This research consists of a discursive analysis of the coverage of the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which took place on May 19, 2018, in the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo. The choice fo this theme is due to the characteristics of Meghan, who is biracial, american, a commoner from the perspective of the royal family, divorced and older than the prince. These aspects make her different from most members of the British nobles and create singularities in the way she is portrayed in the press, suggesting that she does not belong in that environment. They also make Meghan stand out in a way that a white, noble, british bride would not. Therefore, we ask: considering the british royal wedding, and from the analysis of the news in Folha de S. Paulo, what would be the happening: the royal wedding itself or the bride, Meghan Markle? To answer the question, a bibliographic review of the concepts of happening, celebrity, intersectionality, colorism and crossbreeding was performed. The analysis methodology was the french Discourse Analysis (AD) (according to the theory of the linguist Dominique Maingueneau) to analyze the news’s writing and relate it to elements such as images and infographics. Through the analysis, it was observed that, at the beginning of the coverage, Meghan appears as a passive subject, target of Harry’s action, who marries her. Afterwards, Folha introduces the duchess’s crossbreeding and she is characterized as a feminist and a changemaker in the royal family because of her unusual characteristics. Especially in the last news analyzed, the crossbreed element is highlighted, as Folha puts side by side the characteristics of the bride and groom and demonstrates the mixture that occurred at the ceremony. Throughout the coverage, a depreciation of the royal family also appears and royalty is portrayed as an old and outdated entity. Then, a relationship between the concepts and the results of the analysis was performed. It is concluded that although Meghan was highlighted in the wedding, it is not possible to determine the happenning with certainty, since both are intertwined. |
