Imigração e eficácia dos direitos fundamentais quando à xenofobia: Análise do caso brasileiro

Abstract

Xenophobia is an expanding phenomenon in the world. In spite of its criminal character, it is known that the number of victims involved in rejection scenes and hate speech remains considerable. Statistics indicate that immigrants are psychological and physically abused and reprimanded, and Fundamental Rights ought to guarantee the preservation of the basic rights of human people so that they can live their lives with freedom and equality. This article aims to identify the reason why xenophobia persists in Brazilian society, even though Fundamental Rights and migration policy are in defense of foreigners' lives. This study aims to contribute to the attempts to put an end to the existing prejudice towards immigrants. The lack of debate and general unawareness of this issue's importance results in misconceptions, in the sense that xenophobia victims are treated as ordinary.
