Análise eletromiográfica do efeito da fisioterapia no músculo masseter em pós-operatório de politrauma de face

Abstract

The facial traumas have occupied a prominent place, and the mandibular fractures comprise the highest percentage of injuries treated by maxillofacial surgeons. Physiotherapeutic interventions come in addition to postoperative rehabilitation by optimizing post-trauma muscle activity, collaborating in the recovery of masticatory, phonation, swallowing and postural functions. In this sense, this study aims to compare the longitudinal evolution of electrical activity between a polytraumatized volunteer submitted to physiotherapy and a volunteer with mandibular trauma without physiotherapy treatment. A first collection of electromyographic data was performed in the first days after discharge from the surgery department responsible for fractures treatment, a second collection 60 days later in the group submitted to physiotherapeutic treatment in the group not submitted to physiotherapeutic treatment and in the control group, and a third collection 90 after, in the group submitted to physiotherapy. The physiotherapeutic intervention in polytraumatized patients is of great relevance, returning the physiological masticatory muscle condition, regarding the electrical activity, within a period of up to ninety days, presenting also advantages in reducing the disharmonizing symptomatology of the function.
