Depósito inadequado de resíduos sólidos no Bairro Novo Tempo II no município de Ituiutaba - MG

Abstract

According to the Ministry of the Environment (2017), the concern for solid waste has been discussed for decades at a national level, since we live in a system where consumption is present in the daily lives of humankind. In making the consumption of products, to a certain extent contributed to the increase of the production of waste that discarded inadequately cause environmental and social damages to the population. In this way, this work presents a study of the inadequate disposal of solid waste in Bairro Novo Tempo II, in the municipality of Ituiutaba, MG, from May to December 2017. This research was carried out through a bibliographical survey and field work with the The objective of this study was to follow the process of evolution of inappropriate waste disposal at five points in the neighborhood, to characterize the types of waste, and finally to propose mitigation measures to sensitize the population to regular disposal, minimizing these environmental problems and ending with the disruptions that this waste causes in society. The results showed that the main cause of the irregular solid waste deposit in the five points analyzed in the neighborhood is related to the lack of sensitization of the residents who dispose of such waste regularly. During the period of monitoring of the main disposal points located in the research area (from May to December 2017), the periodic cleaning carried out by the municipal government of Ituiutaba and the implementation of indicative signs with the prohibition of littering were observed. It was verified, even with the accomplishment of these services, the increase of the quantity of solid waste discarded inappropriately during the temporal cut studied.
