O clube da fé: análise de discurso do documentário sobre a história do são paulo futebol clube “onde a moeda cai em pé”

Abstract

This study analyzes the discursive construction of the 1943 episode in the documentary Where the Coin Lands Standing: the History of São Paulo Futebol Clube and its relationship with the production of meanings regarding the club’s institutional image. This is a qualitative, documentary-based research grounded in the theoretical assumptions of Discourse Analysis, especially from the perspective of Patrick Charaudeau (2006). The aim is to understand how the narrative resources mobilized in the documentary act in the symbolic reconfiguration of this historical event, based on categories such as the effects of knowledge, opinion, and testimony, the procedures of reported discourse (quotation, integration, narrativization, and evocation), lexical choices, and the movements of argumentative construction, particularly problematization and elucidation of facts. The first 11 minutes of the documentary were examined, focusing on the account of the event, lexical choices, and the argumentative construction of the episode of the “coin that landed standing”. The results contribute to the debate on the role of audiovisual narratives in the construction of the sports imaginary and provide support for future research on discourse and memory in sports.
